Modern Barcelona was born out of the Eixample, it was inspired by the engineer, Ildefons Cerdà. The district of Eixample is fruit of one of the most splendid moments of the histrory of the City. The most expressive creative expression of this time id the modernist architecural style, with an accumulation of  buildings of great value, all under the reign of the Sagrada Família, this converts it in to a district without comparison in Europe. Under his plan, Cerdà designed an City where there were no differences between one area dn another and all services were fairly distributed. It really was a city to live in and avoided the traditional building of buildings on top of one another like in Cuitat Vella.

Eixample has a sense of grandeur and is the most central location of Barcelona. Some of the most emblematic roads are in Eixample, Paseo de Grcaia, Gran Via, Diagonal.

Properties in Eixample are in high demand and many are set in wonderful buildings called finca regia. These are classical Catalan style builds and can range in size from around 60 to 400 m2. Eixample is a great place to shop and has a high concentration of fantastic bars and restaurants. Getting around is very easy with an excellent network of buses, trams, metro and taxis.
